Terms of service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SubPair browser extension and the website at subpair.com (together, "the Service"). By installing the extension or using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What SubPair is (and isn't)

SubPair is a browser extension that displays dual-language subtitles and vocabulary tools on top of streaming services you already have access to, Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+. SubPair:

  • does not provide, host, unlock, or circumvent access to any video content;
  • requires your own valid subscription to the streaming service you use it with;
  • is an independent product, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Netflix, Inc., Google LLC/YouTube, The Walt Disney Company, or Amazon.com, Inc.

2. Accounts

Some features (plan limits, vocabulary sync, Pro) require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and accept responsibility for activity under your account. You may sign in with email and password or with Google Sign-In. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to create an account.

3. Plans, pricing, and payments

  • Free plan: unlimited dual subtitles from the platform's own subtitle tracks, up to 100 auto-translated lines per day (word look-ups in the dictionary don't count toward these and have their own limit of 300 per day), unlimited word saving, review, CSV/SRT export, the dictionary, transcript, and side panel.
  • Pro plan: $4.99 per month or $39 per year, with unlimited automatic translation, Anki export with scene context, and per-line subtitle appearance controls (size, color, shadow, box style, and background for each line).

Payments are processed by Creem.io ("Creem"), acting as merchant of record: Creem is the seller of record for your purchase, charges your payment method, calculates any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, and issues your receipts. Your purchase is also subject to Creem's terms presented at checkout. Prices are in US dollars.

3.1 Subscription and renewal

Pro is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly as you choose at checkout. It starts as soon as your payment is confirmed and renews automatically at the end of each billing period, charging the same payment method, until you cancel. Prices may change; a change never affects a billing period you have already paid for.

3.2 Cancellation

You can cancel at any time: open your account page, choose Manage billing (this opens Creem's customer portal) and cancel there. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account returns to the free plan. Your saved vocabulary is kept. Deleting your SubPair account cancels an active subscription immediately, and the rest of the paid period ends with it.

3.3 Refunds

Refund requests can be made through the Creem customer portal (Manage billing) or by emailing enesgencad@gmail.com. We review them case by case and do our best to be fair; Creem, as merchant of record, issues any refund to your original payment method. If a payment is refunded or disputed, Pro ends immediately.

3.4 Right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason. To use it, tell us by email or contact Creem through the billing portal within those 14 days. Creem, as merchant of record, applies the withdrawal rules that govern your purchase, including how a refund is calculated if you asked for Pro to start immediately. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service to violate any law or the terms of the streaming services you use it with;
  • attempt to extract, redistribute, or republish subtitle content or translations at scale;
  • probe, overload, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service or its API, or circumvent plan limits;
  • resell or share account access beyond your own personal devices.

5. Third-party services

The Service operates alongside third-party platforms (Netflix, YouTube, Disney+) and relies on third-party providers (hosting, automatic translation, Google Sign-In, Creem.io payments). Those platforms may change at any time in ways that affect or break SubPair's functionality; we work to keep up, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted compatibility. Your use of third-party platforms is governed by their own terms.

6. Intellectual property

The SubPair extension, website, and branding are owned by us. Subtitle content belongs to the respective streaming services and rights holders; SubPair displays it to you, the viewer, for personal language-learning use alongside content you are already authorized to watch. Your saved vocabulary list is yours.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Automatic translations can be wrong; native subtitle tracks are aligned automatically and may occasionally mismatch. SubPair is a learning aid, not a certified translation service.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $10 if you have paid nothing). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as 6–8) do survive.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be announced on the website; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
